Our Story – Rod Dawson

Our family company had been building "granny cottages"for over 25 years when, in the year 2000, our Managing Director, Rod Dawson, saw that the market was looking for something more. He developed the "Garden Cottage"concept, taking the granny cottage into the new millennium.

The VGC range provides a new style of living, providing all the comfort and interior features of a comfortable modern home in a cottage that can be built in the backyard for family members. In 2001, Rod Dawson launched a Display Centre in Greensborough, and with that the business took a new direction. Subsequent growth and further expansion saw the opening of a new Display Centre in 2006 at 50 Maroondah Highway, Croydon.

In 2008, the company recognised the need to introduce a whole new range of designs in response to the ever-changing demands of customers. To coincide with this, a new Display Centre was opened at 101 Bell Street Preston, showcasing a selection of new designs. Victorian Garden Cottages is proud to have more options and cottage styles on display than any other builders in this sector of the market.
